Éverything is Coming Up Rosé

BEST VINEYARD SITES

Everything is simply perfect in Deutschkreutz. Every single day. Both the heat and the coolness create a perfect sense (of flavor). Our vineyards are protected by the Bucklige Welt to the west, the Ödenburg Mountains to the north, and the Günser Mountains to the south. Cold winds from the north are blocked, while warm, dry winds from the Pannonian Plain caress our vineyards.

Lake Neusiedl, which is only a few kilometers away as the crow flies, also plays a regulating role for the temperatures. The winters are moderately cold, the summers hot and dry. The climate in our wine-growing region is comparable to that of Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Piedmont. No wonder the wines here taste so good.

Landlady Afternoon

Martina Parker, author of the popular garden crime series, reads from her humorous and suspenseful stories about country life, curious neighbors, and small crimes unfolding between vegetable patches and village gossip. With a fine sense for storytelling, she brings to life strong women, little secrets, and unexpected twists — straight from the heart of Burgenland. Fittingly, the reading takes place at the Strehn winery in Deutschkreutz — where vines grow, gardens bloom, and crime stories set in nature feel just a little more real.

Look forward to an entertaining afternoon full of suspense, humor, and relaxed conversation.

Rosé Brut „B. Pink“

The pink ribbon is the strongest symbol of solidarity among women.
Initiated by Pink Ribbon ambassador and Deputy Governor Astrid Eisenkopf, we developed B.Pink, a rosé sparkling wine distinguished by its creamy texture and complexity.
“With the project ‘B. Pink’, we aim to make a meaningful and enjoyable contribution to awareness and breast cancer prevention.
We want not only to create moments of pleasure, but also to send a strong message of solidarity and support for all women affected by breast cancer,” says Deputy Governor Astrid Eisenkopf.

The eye-catching pink bottle and its distinctive design are intended to draw additional attention to the important topic of breast cancer.

One tenth of the proceeds will be donated to the Burgenland Cancer Aid.

Sparkling wine stands for joie de vivre and enjoyment. “It is a matter close to my heart to use this sparkling wine to make a statement while combining pleasure and awareness. This wine is meant to highlight how important prevention and solidarity truly are,” explains Pia Strehn, the award-winning winemaker from Deutschkreutz.

Michaela Klein, President of the Burgenland Cancer Aid, welcomes this wonderful initiative and expresses her gratitude for the commitment and valuable support: “Thanks to initiatives like these, it is possible to provide financial assistance and psychological support to breast cancer patients in Burgenland during such a challenging time.”

Pia’s Rosé at the Salzburg Festival

This year, Burgenland winemaker Pia Strehn is supplying rosé wine to the festival for the first time – and in doing so, has also discovered her love for classical music.

When Burgenland native Pia Strehn decided nearly ten years ago to shift her family winery toward high-quality rosé wines, she wrote herself a list of milestones she wanted to achieve along the way. One of them was an interview with Claudia Stöckl in the series “Frühstück bei mir.” Another goal was to be selected as the official wine of the Salzburg Festival.

Pia & the Strong Men at Terroir and Adiletten

We were guests on Terroir and Adiletten, now the most popular wine podcast in the German-speaking world. The title of our episode: Talking about Rosé – how could it be otherwise 😉.

“Our guest today: Pia Strehn from Central Burgenland in Austria. She is a winemaker — or, as she puts it herself: an architect of castles in the air. Her focus is rosé; 99% of her wines are neither red nor white. And the remaining 1%? She’ll tell you herself.”

Rosé is, as people like to say these days, the elephant in the room — at least when that room is a summer terrace. Or a china shop. The segment is booming, yet in the eyes of wine nerds, rosé still carries the image of being rather trivial, fruity little drinks — far from serious terroir wines. Accordingly, Willi asks the tough questions — old habits die hard — but in the end, he is genuinely impressed by Pia’s wines. Pia, on the other hand, remains relaxed and open, speaking about coaching experiences, failure, how she had to learn to speak a second time, and her Sunday ritual: Tatort, pizza & red wine. Wait a second — you watch that stuff in Austria too? Fair enough. Let’s close with Willi’s words: “There always comes a moment when you realize that you know nothing.”

Talkshow – Barbara STÖCKL

Thank you very much for the invitation to Barbara Stöckl’s talk show – it was a wonderful experience!

Burgenland winemaker Pia Strehn delights guests with her official “festival wine” of this year’s Salzburg Festival, served as a fruity glass of wine during the performance intermissions. The Burgenland native has fully embraced “La Vie en Rosé” and has made rosé wine truly respectable. In the night talk show “Stöckl,” she shares her success story and how she has given the Strehn winery her very own distinctive touch.

Ö3 PODCAST.

Pia Strehn, award-winning winemaker from Deutschkreutz in the Blaufränkisch region, guest on Ö3’s “Frühstück bei mir”. “As a child, wine mostly meant stress to me, because the whole family was basically working around the clock,” says the winemaker, who runs the 53-hectare estate in its fourth generation. With a strong focus on rosé, Strehn’s creations are now featured in gourmet restaurants from London to New York. She has also collaborated with Swedish pop singer Magnus Carlsson — known for the hit “Crying at the Discotheque” — on a wine that “took off in Sweden.”

In conversation with Claudia Stöckl, “Miss Rosé” — as Pia Strehn is often called — talks about life as a winemaker and what it feels like to establish herself in a male-dominated field, about building a brand, and why, for her, a new wine is “like a new person you get to know.” (Broadcast note: “Frühstück bei mir”, aired on September 10, 2023)
